About us
Health and Safety
Our commitment to the health, safety and welfare of our teams at Roofspace Solutions, as well as those who are in contact with our operations or premises, is embedded within the core of our business.
We have developed and implemented an integrated health, safety and environmental management system compliant with the Build Offsite Property Assurance Scheme (BOPAS), to ensure we are always legally compliant. We are also certified with CHAS, SMAS, Safecontractor and Constructionline. By investing in our people with HSE and vocational training, we can ensure our workforce is competent to deliver our products and services without risk.
It’s well-known that a high number of the unfortunate accidents that happen on construction sites is a due to falls from height. With the amount of time spent working on upper levels when building a property, this comes as no surprise. With our roofing solution saving around 5 weeks’ build time and our housing solution being upto 40% faster to build, significantly less time is spent working at height. By taking great pride in fully training our installation teams on the best working practises to keep themselves and anyone they work alongside safe.
Our viewable policies and procedures include all employer and employee responsibilities under The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, as well as other statutory requirements. Our HSE policy and standards are monitored, reviewed and updated to accommodate legislation changes. We will continuously improve our management system as we strive for excellence within the industry.
Environmental Impact
With an ever growing need to protect the environment, we strive as a business to continuously find new ways to monitor and improve the ways in which we work. Having recently received a gold membership from the Supply Chain Sustainability SCHOOL, we are heading in the right direction.
We have made many changes over recent months, such as significantly reducing the amount of waste we send to landfill as well as minimising the energy used per unit. We have also reviewed our manufacturing and design process, identifying ways to further reduce waste going forward.
It’s important to us that the suppliers we use have a similar vision to ours and because of this we have conducted a full review of our supply chain, ensuring they also have a sustainability plan in place too.
“Continuously find new ways to monitor and improve the ways in which we work.”
Whilst the improvements within the manufacturing and installation side of our business will have the biggest impact on the environment, we have also assessed the way our offices work too. Training plans are in place highlighting the importance of sustainability and how our team can make changes to their working day. We have seen an increased uptake in video conferencing to reduce the amount of travel required and minimise vehicle usage.
However, these are just some of the things we have done so far, there is still plenty more we can and will do.
The positive impact that tree planting can have in supporting efforts to mitigate the effects of climate change is no secret. Each new tree planted sequesters CO2 over its growth time, helping to slow down damage caused through deforestation, desertification, and flooding.
As part of our ongoing commitment to sustainable development and a low-carbon economy, we have partnered with (more:trees); an organisation that helps businesses take impactful climate action through global tree planting projects.
